10/07/09 Movie: The Exorcist - My Rant

For those of you who know me, you know I'm a movie nut.  I love to sit in the theater and lose myself in a good movie.  It is not often I would complain about small issues... but last night was a bit nutty.

I sent the following email to Insomniac Cinema! and a Similar letter to Regency delivering my discontent about the presentation, but more about by disgust for the theater manager.

First let me thank you for bringing the Insomniac Series to Las Vegas. I know me and my friends have enjoyed attending the various shows. I personally have attended more than half of the screenings. I am sorry to say that I will no longer be doing so due to the management at Tropicana Cinemas.


The showing of The Exorcist tonight was riddled with problems. During the crucifix masturbation scene, the sound became completely lost. I left the theater and complained to the manager who repaired the sound for about 5 minutes. All in all we lost over 25 min of the film.

Following the show, a large group congregated in the lobby to receive an apology and / or refund. The counter person told us that we would have to speak with the manager Miguel. He ignored multiple requests for his presence from the single counter person and even text messages. After 35 min, when all but me and one friend (another more loyal customer) remained did he appear. He did not apologize for the film, for keeping us waiting... and he refused to refund our tickets.

I have written a similar letter of complaint to Regency to let them know of the problem. I am sorry to say that his behavior will cost Regency and your company my business.

I invite others that were there to chime in and let them know we will be respected and spend our entertainment dollars accordingly.
